Hounslow Cycling Campaign Response
Hounslow Cycling Campaign (HCC) welcomes the proposed contraflow in Boston Park Road. Our members are generally in favour of contraflows on one way residential roads. They allow cyclists to filter through quieter streets and feel quite safe to use. This one is particularly welcome as the TfL cycle track along the A4 is poor quality and not pleasant to use. It will connect conveniently to the Eastbourne Road – Enfield Road route and add to network effects around the Boston Manor Road area.
HCC accepts that the removal of mature trees is necessary to provide pavement space for pedestrians. Removal of mature trees is always a contentious issue for our members but no alternative solution presents itself in this case. Our assumption (which we would like confirmed) is that LBH intends to retain the sheffield hoops and Cyclehoops store just north of Eastbourne Rd, alongside the new saplings.
HCC supports the proposed parking restrictions, HGV restrictions and entry treatments. On entry treatments, we note that the pavement north of Whitestile Rd needs remediation around the mature tree and two driveways.
